Privacy Policy

This policy explains what RoadKin collects, why, and what we do with it. Plain language, no dark patterns. If anything is unclear, email hello@roadkin.co.

1. Information we collect

From customers

  • Name, phone number, email address — to coordinate dispatch and send receipts.
  • Vehicle details (year, make, model, color, license plate) — so the operator knows what they're looking for.
  • Location of your pickup (address, GPS coordinates) — required to dispatch and route the operator.
  • Payment details — handled by Stripe; we store only a Stripe customer id and payment-method reference. We never see or store full card numbers.
  • Rating and tip-amount you submit after service.
  • Communications with our team (email, SMS, phone calls handled by our voice agent).

From operators

  • Legal name, business name, contact info, address — for our records and 1099 reporting.
  • Driver's license and SSN last 4 — passed to Checkr for background and motor-vehicle screening.
  • Vehicle inventory (truck VIN, type, capabilities) — for matching to jobs.
  • Stripe Connect account information — for payouts. We hold only identifiers; Stripe holds the full account.
  • Real-time location pings while on duty — to dispatch the closest operator. Pings stop when the operator goes off duty.

Automatic

  • Device + browser information when you visit our website (IP, user agent, referrer).
  • Basic usage analytics on which pages are viewed. We do not sell or share this for advertising.

2. How we use it

  • Provide and improve the service: match customers to operators, route them, capture payment, send receipts.
  • Operator screening: Checkr-powered background and motor-vehicle checks at onboarding.
  • Communications: booking confirmation, status updates, receipts, and rate-the-service prompts. Optional tips are billed via Stripe.
  • Safety and fraud: detecting abuse, chargeback fraud, or unsafe driving patterns.
  • Legal compliance: tax reporting, insurance claims, lawful requests from government authorities.

3. Who we share it with

We share information with third-party services strictly to deliver the service you requested. We do not sell your data.

  • Stripe — payments, payouts, customer + connect account records. stripe.com/privacy

  • Mapbox — geocoding addresses to coordinates. mapbox.com/legal/privacy
  • Supabase — our database and authentication provider.
  • Vercel — application hosting and logs.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (confirmations, receipts).
  • Vapi / Twilio — the voice line you can call to book over the phone.
  • Assigned operator — name, callback phone number, vehicle details, and pickup location. The operator needs these to do the job. No payment information is shared.

We may also share information when required by law (subpoena, court order), to protect our rights, or in the event of a corporate transaction where the acquirer assumes the same obligations.

4. SMS messaging

When you book a service on roadkin.co or by phone, you consent to receive transactional SMS messages from RoadKin at the phone number you provided. Messages include: (1) a secure tap-to-pay booking link once your request is created, and (2) status updates as your operator is dispatched, arrives, and completes the job. Typical message frequency is 3-5 texts per service request; we do not send marketing or promotional messages without separate opt-in. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile information, including phone number, will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. 5. Data retention

  • Booking and payment records: retained for at least 7 years for tax and insurance purposes.
  • Operator location pings: aggregated for routing; raw points retained no longer than 30 days.
  • Voice agent call transcripts: retained 90 days for quality and dispute resolution.
  • Marketing waitlist and lead submissions: retained until you ask us to delete them.

6. Your rights

You can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information by emailing privacy@roadkin.co. California residents have the rights described in the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) including the right to know, delete, and opt out of any sale (we do not sell data).

7. Children

RoadKin is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.

8. Security

All connections to RoadKin are encrypted in transit (TLS). Payment information is tokenized by Stripe and never traverses our servers. Operator background-check data is held by Checkr; we receive only the outcome. We use role-based access controls on our internal admin tools and audit every admin mutation.

9. International transfers

RoadKin operates in the United States. If you access the service from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US.

10. Changes

We'll update this policy when our practices change. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice with reasonable advance notice.
